Overview

Parenting without Violence is a 16-week parent education program provided through the Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) for DFCS clients.  The program is focused towards those parents for whom domestic violence is a family issue and/or who incorporate excessive and inappropriate corporal punishment in their disciplining methods.  The goals of the program are to:

  • Empower participants to approach parenting with an understanding of violence in terms of power and control, and
  • Provide a psycho-educational process for raising awareness about the issues of dominance in abusive parenting styles.
