Business Plan update continues with much of the necessary data collected. The appraisal company has provided their reports, a facility report has been generated on the Reid-Hillview terminal building and Swift Avenue building along with the San Martin hangars, and the aviation consultant has gathered much of the data for a fees and charges review. Past Roads and Airports Director is coalescing all the information into a draft business plan which should be available to review on May 8th.
The Airports Commission has changed their regularly schedule May 1st workshop to a Special Meeting on May 15th to review the Business Plan prior to the May 17th HLUET meeting.
The week following HLUET, we will be holding two meetings to take comments from the public. During the evening of May 22nd we will be hosting a meeting for Reid-Hillview Airport users and neighbors in a location to be determined. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The next evening, May 23rd, we will host a meeting for San Martin Airport users and neighbors at the San Martin Airport
In keeping with the Board direction, we are then planning to take the final Business Plan update, along with the public comments, to the Board of Supervisors at their June 5th Board meeting.
If you would like to submit written comments about the plan and are unable to make one of the meetings, you are welcome to send them directly to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Move information on the business plan can be found on our website: www.countyairports.org/bp.html
As part of a pavement rehabilitation program that the Board of Supervisors authorized last year, the San Martin and Reid-Hillview airports runways and taxiways will be resurfaced in the very near future.
The project will consist of digging out areas of failed asphalt, crack sealing the surfaces, removing the existing pavement markings, installing a micro surface on top of the existing repaired and sealed surfaces and then replacing all the surface markings. At both airports the new runway markings will change to including the markings for a non-precision instrument approach. In addition, at RHV we will be adding surface painted taxiway directional markings and reflectors for taxiway Z..
The project is going to cause significant disruption at both airports and we ask for your patience’s as we work through this much needed project..
San Martin will be closed to all air traffic between May 3rd and May 10th.
Reid-Hillview construction will run from May 2nd through May 25th with different phases of taxiway and runway closure. Our intent is to keep the airport open during construction, but there will be limited availability for local / touch-and-go traffic. In addition, RHV will be closed at night between May 13th and May 25th while work is completed on runway 31R - 13L.
