COVID-19 Cases and Deaths

The data on this dashboard provide a look at the number of new cases of COVID-19 and related deaths over time. A case is someone who tests positive for COVID-19 using viral testing performed in a lab. Deaths are listed separately for patients at Long Term Care Facilities because patients in these facilities are more isolated than the general public and represent a particularly vulnerable population. The Public Health Department closely tracks the number of cases and deaths that are being reported each day. ***

**Data on deaths will be updated Monday through Friday only; in addition, there will be no updates of deaths data on days of the week following a holiday.

^ Due to intermittent issues with the State’s CalREDIE system, the number of new and/or cumulative cases may change as these issues are resolved.

The number of deaths may be temporarily undercounted while deaths are under investigation.

Data Notes: Cases are reported by the date that the specimens were collected for testing. Cases that do not have a valid specimen collection date will not show up in the graph of cases but are counted in the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases. Case counts for the most recent 7 days are likely to increase as additional results are received. The 7-day rolling average of new cases is the average number of new cases each day in the past 7 days, excluding the most recent 7 days. Count of deaths for the most recent 14 days are likely to increase as deaths get reported to and investigated by the Public Health Department.  Deaths are reported by the date of death. Deaths provided in this dashboard do not necessarily mean that the individuals died from COVID-19.
