CEPA Charitable Feeding Mini-Grant Funding Opportunity

​​Accepting Applications Starting December 10,  ​​2019

The mission of the Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency (CEPA) charitable feeding pilot program is to alleviate some of the costs for using permitted commercial kitchens for Charitable Feeding Organizations serving the needs of the food-insecure community in Santa Clara County, and explore options with organizations that have permitted commercial kitchens to participate in kitchen sharing programs.

 

CEPA is a part of the communities we serve. We support programs, events, and causes throughout the year, both collaboratively and financially. Grants will be awarded for up to $1,000 to non-profits to pay for costs associated with renting a permitted commercial kitchen in Santa Clara County for the purpose of charitable feeding. Requests will be considered on the extent to which organizations and/or individuals have goals to improve the safety, quality, quantity, and availability of food to Santa Clara County community members that may not have the resources to provide for meals themselves.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Expenses must be for permitted kitchen rental costs. 
  • Mini-grant requests for consideration must be for providing meals to the food-insecure community at no charge in Santa Clara County.​
  • Grant funds cannot be used for any expenses incurred prior to December 10, 2019.​ 
  • Applications must be received via email by March 18, 2020. 
  • Organizations applying for reimbursement must be a 501 (c)(3).​
Application Guidelines

  • Mini grant requests can be made up to but must not exceed $1,000 per application. 
  • An organization may submit up to three (3) applications for the period of December 10, 2019 through March 18, 2020.

Application Process

  • Complete the mini-grant application form and send it to CEPA Outreach​ (cepaoutreach@cep.sccgov.org).
  • In the event that the request does not align with the mini-grant criteria, the applicant will be informed via e-mail.
  • Applicant will be notified via e-mail once a decision is made and will be requested to submit an invoice.[ZJ1] [TS2] 
    • ​​​​​The applicant has 15 days from the day the request was made to submit the invoice and any other additional information (i.e., pending paperwork and/or application revisions). If the information is not received within said time, the mini-grant approval will be withdrawn, and the applicant will have to reapply.
  • ​Applicants will need to complete a short one-page County vendor form and brief agreement with the County to receive funds
    • Payment will be processed by the County ACH deposited directly into the grantee’s bank account. Please allow 5 business days for a deposit of funds after all required documents and approvals discussed above are received by the County.
  • Awardees will also be asked to participate in a post-award evaluation.

Grants will be awarded for up to $1,000 to nonprofits to pay for costs associated with renting a permitted commercial kitchen in Santa Clara County for the purpose of charitable feeding from December 10, 2019 – March 31, 2019​.
