Find some time to participate in Affordable Housing Month — Silicon Valley 2021. During the entire month of May, SV@Home convenes our region’s housing partners to host dozens of virtual workshops, webinars and creative community engagement opportunities. Their purpose is to activate and engage our community of housing advocates and the public about our regions housing challenges and solutions. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is continuing their essential wildland fire prevention and preparation work. This includes finalizing the environmental impact report (EIR) for their newly developed Wildland Fire Resiliency Program, which is now available for review. The goals of the program are to proactively expand Midpen’s ecologically sensitive vegetation management to establish healthy ecosystems, reduce wildland fire risk and facilitate fire agency response. For more information on the program, and to review the final EIR, please visit the project webpage at openspace.org/wfrp

Did you know that the County draws new supervisorial boundaries every ten years based on new Census data? To accomplish this, my colleagues and I have established a fifteen-member Commission to conduct public hearings and receive input. Commissioners will engage the community in drawing boundaries that are in compliance with state and federal law.

The application process for the 2021 Advisory Redistricting Commission is now open. If you are a registered voter willing to serve from June through January, you are eligible to apply. Applications are due by June 1, 2021 at 9:00 am. Please consider applying for this unique opportunity. To learn more about the process and how to get involved, visit the County’s website here.
