Santa Clara County has seen far too much death and suffering this year, but there has also been extraordinary acts of heroism and service from both individuals and organizations throughout the County.
In order to celebrate and recognize the courage, innovation, and outstanding community service we have seen this year Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors President Cindy Chavez will be awarding the “President’s Medal for Exemplary Service During the COVID-19 Pandemic” to individuals who provided the highest service countywide during the pandemic.
Awardees will be selected by a committee composed of President Chavez, Mercury News columnist Sal Pizarro, County Executive Jeff Smith, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation CEO Nicole Taylor from nominations made by the community.
Supervisor Chavez will also be awarding the “Supervisor’s Medal for Outstanding Service During the COVID-19 Pandemic” to individuals in District 2 who have provided exemplary service during the pandemic, and the “Santa Clara County COVID-19 Service Medal” to businesses, groups, and organizations in District 2.
The nomination guidelines and form for the President’s Medal can be found on Supervisor Chavez’s website here
The other members of the Board of Supervisors will also have the opportunity to recognize individuals, businesses, groups, and organizations in their districts with Supervisor’s Medals and Service Medals.
All of the awardees will be recognized at a virtual ceremony on December 14.
