Cortese is Rose, White and Blue Parade Grand Marshal​

Supervisor Dave Cortese and Pattie Cortese, Eastside Union High School District Trustee, greet parade watchers at San Jose's annual Rose, White and Blue Parade on July 4. Supervisor Cortese was chosen as this year's Grand Marshal.




Memorial Day 2017 Honors Veterans From All Wars

Supervisor Dave Cortese was among the speakers at the 2017 Memorial Day, May 29 event at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose. The keynote speaker was Major General James E. Livingston, USMC (Ret.). The annual event also featured a procession of wreaths honoring veterans of wars involving the U.S. and a presentation of commendations to the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County, including one from Supervisor Cortese and Supervisor Cindy Chavez.

Our Voices Were Heard at Bus Trip for Education

Our 15th annual Bus Trip for Education, which is sponsored by my office and the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, brought together 155 participants with state legislators and their aides to talk about education in Santa Clara County. Speakers at the May 31 event in Sacramento included Assemblywoman Anna M. Caballero, Assembly Members Mark Stone and Ash Kalra and Evan Goldberg, Office of the Controller.

Pilgrimage to La Paz Honors Legacy of Cesar Chavez

On April 19, 2017, two busloads of residents and social justice advocates traveled to Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz ranch in Keene, California – home and workplace to the Chávez Family and of the United Farm Workers and now a National Monument. We were honored to have Paul Chavez, son of César, be one of our guides, and Rudy Chavez Medina, Cesar Chavez's nephew and Pilgrimage participant, share stories. We visited Chavez's grave, strolled the beautiful grounds and explored the musem, which displays his office.
