Our 17th annual Bus Trip to Sacramento will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, and it’s not too early to register.
The Bus Trip for Education brings together public education advocates with state legislators who make decisions about our schools. Over the years, hundreds of high school students have joined the trip, along with parents, educators, elected officials and community leaders.
Bus Trip participants gain an in-depth knowledge of issues, ranging from grades K-12 to community colleges and four-year universities. Participants receive updates on current legislative proposals, a status update on school funding and other key public education efforts. There will also be guided tours of the Capitol.
More importantly, Bus Trip participants have an opportunity to voice their interests and concerns directly to state legislators that represent Santa Clara County, including Assemblymembers Kansen Chu, Evan Low, Ash Kalra, Anna Cabellero, Mark Stone, Marc Berman and Kevin Kiley; and Senators Jim Beall, Jerry Hill and Bob Wieckowski. We will also be joined by representatives from the State Board of Education and the Controller’s Office.
We will gather at 6 a.m., and the buses will leave at 6:30 a.m. from the VTA Transit Center at Eastridge Mall, 2200 Eastridge Loop, San Jose, on Wednesday, May 15 , and return to the same location around 5 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
