Meet the Staff

Derrick Seaver, Chief of StaffDerrick Seaver, Chief of Staff

Derrick Seaver has spent the last 18 years working on government advocacy and action. He manages Susan's staff, land use, environment and transportation policy, constituent services and community events.

Michelle Collins, Front Office AdministratorMichelle CollinsExecutive Administrative Assistant & Scheduler 

Michelle Collins has worked for the County of Santa Clara for the last 17 years, most recently with Supervisor Ken Yeager. She brings a deep knowledg​e of the inner-workings of the county and all its complexities to Susan's team. Michelle manages Susan's calendar, office logistics, constituent services and community events.

Angelica Ramos-Allen, Policy DirectorAngelica Ramos-Allen, Board Aide - Children, Seniors & Families and Special Projects

Angelica Ramos-Allen has spent the past decade as a political consultant, an activist for women's rights, and an advocate for policies to support and protect children. She is currently a Fellow with the Children's Defense Fund and holds a J.D. from Whittier Law School with a specialization in child welfare and juvenile justice. Angelica manages Susan's children and families policy, constituent services, and community events.

Mayra Flores, Communications DirectorMayra Flores, Communications Director

Mayra Flores has spent the first 16 years of her career as a journalist in the South Bay. She is an award-winning reporter and life-long community enthusiast. She is a HOPE Leadership Institute alumna and a proud San José State University alum. Mayra manages Susan's communications, community and media relations, digital media, constituent services and community events.

David Fernandez, Board Aide - Housing, Land Use, Environment & Transportation

David Fernandez is a San José State University alum who has experience with helping underrepresented and underserved populations within our communities. David manages Susan's housing policy, constituent services and community events.

Yvonne Jimenez, Board Aide - Public Safety & Justice

Yvonne has more than seven years of federal and local government experience, most recently working for Supervisor Ken Yeager. She is a passionate advocate for equitable and inclusive policies, and increasing opportunities for underrepresented communities. Yvonne manages Susan's public safety and justice policy, constituent services and community events.

Steve Kline, Board Aide - LGBTQ+ & Seniors

Steve has spent decades as a political consultant, a community activist for neighborhoods, LGBTQ+ rights, and accessible libraries. He is an Attorney and Counselor at Law, graduating from Pepperdine University School of Law. He is a sole practitioner with a General Practice. Steve manages Susan's LGBTQ+ and senior policy, constituent services and community events.

Jasmine Leyva, Communications Aide

Jasmine spent the last year working in the marketing department at Foothill College, crafting collateral aimed at promoting educational resources. Prior to this, she spent three years as a journalist covering local news in the South Bay. She is a San José State University alum and outdoor adventurist. Jasmine manages Susan's social media channels, newsletter, marketing materials, constituent services and community events.

Heidi has a background in business and finance, having worked for many years in the high tech industry.  She is a leader in her community, having served as an appointed Commissioner for the County of Santa Clara and the Town of Los Gatos.  She completed a Masters Degree in Business from Santa Clara University and a Bachelors in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. Heidi manages Susan's finance and government operations policy, constituent services and community events.

Basil Saleh, Community Relations Aide

Basil Saleh is a native San Josean, and D4 resident. As a student, the effects of wealth inequality and tragedies like the Ghost Ship Fire on the Bay Area Arts Community, drove Basil to apply his skills to public service and policy in order to represent the diverse communities that call our region home. Before joining the D4 team, Basil created “Project Now,” an incubator helping young organizers & activists grow their efforts and foster youth engagement regionally. He manages Susan's community relations, constituent services and community events.​

Christine Rutherford-Stuart, Board Aide - Health & Hospitals

Christine has more than 15 years of public health experience supporting the development and implementation of programs in partnership with communities. She has served in federal, city and county health departments working on a variety of issues including child health, obesity prevention, emergency response, HIV and STD prevention. She completed a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Washington and a post-graduate fellowship with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention program planning and evaluation. Christine manages Susan's health and hospital services, public and behavioral health policy, constituent services and community events.
