The County of Santa Clara is inviting the community to respond to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Expression of Interest for qualified business operators and investors who can assist the County in developing the 150-acre Santa Clara County Fairgrounds District. The goal is to transform the District into a vibrant regional community gathering place with recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
This is all part of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors ongoing effort to ensure that the planning process for the Fairgrounds is inclusive and transparent. The current process of engaging the community and soliciting ideas for creating a vision for the Fairgrounds has been underway since late 2014.
The current RFQ was approved by the Board of Supervisors at its June 21, 2016, regular meeting and interested parties have 60 days to respond. It is available here

This RFQ represents the first stage in a competitive process that will be followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP) from which one or more business operators/investors will be selected to enter into negotiations for the development and use of some or all of the Fairgrounds.
It is expected that most community events currently taking place at the Fairgrounds will continue being hosted onsite in the future, including the annual County Fair. The County will place a high premium on concepts and proposals that incorporate significant flexibility in the uses of space to accommodate differing needs at different times, different sizes of events and multiple simultaneous uses of different portions of the Fairgrounds 150 acres.
