External Quality Review Organization

The California Department of Mental Health is charged with the responsibility of evaluating the quality of specialty mental health services provided to beneficiaries enrolled in the Medi-Cal managed health care program. Annually the California External Quality Review Organization conducts a site visit to Santa Clara County to review the quality of the overall service delivery system.

Submitted 10/31/2011 to EQRO to address items on the Pre-Review Documentation List: Our Pre-Review Documentation (QI Work Plan, CAEQRO Road Map to a Performance Improvement Project (PIP), CAEQRO PIP Validation Tool FY12 , MHP Response to Prior Year Recommendations, MHP Significant Changes and Initiatives, MHP Timeliness Self-Assessment, FY12 ISCA V7.2, etc.) for our 11/30-12/2 site review.

Recent Publication of the FY13-14 External Quality Review Organization Report

In early December 2013, APS Healthcare, California’s External Quality Organization (CAEQRO) conducted their review of our Medi-Cal Specialty Mental Health Services Waiver Program.  This review was conducted in accordance with the Medicaid Managed Care regulations mandating that the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) provide an annual external quality review of the quality, outcomes, timeliness of services, and access to services provided by Mental Health Plans (MHPs). In reviewing for aspects of care – emphasizing access, timeliness, quality, and outcomes – CAEQRO customized each review in FY13-14 based upon the issues and recommendations outlined in the FY13-14 CAEQRO.
