WHAT: Santa Clara County Social Services Agency Department of Aging and Adult Services in partnership with San Jose State University’s CHAMP (Center for Healthy Aging in a Multicultural Population), the Timpany Center and the Friends of Human Relations Commission invite residents to the 19th Annual Adult Services Resource Fair. The event targets elders and gathers over 45 agencies to provide information, nutrition tips, screening, resources and networking for consumers, caretakers and community providers. Hundreds of participants are expected to attend. Free flu shots, fracture risk tests, advice nurse consultation, demonstrations and other services will be available. There will be raffle prizes. In 2010, 11 percent of Santa Clara County’s population was over 60 years old. By 2040, the number is expected to increase to 17 percent, with the largest growth in the 85+ age group. This fair provides older adults with information about services and resources available in their community to ensure their health and well-being.
