Santa Clara County Favorite Poems Reading Features Voices from Around the World

December is a time of festive celebrations worldwide. This month, the Santa Clara County Poet Laureate Sally Ashton will host a Favorite Poems Reading event. Favorite seasonal poems will be read by county residents from a variety of cultures in the original languages and the English translation.
The event is co-sponsored by Poetry Center San Jose, and will help raise funds for The Hub, a drop-in center offering guidance, support and services to foster youth in Santa Clara County.

In April 2011, during the National Poetry Month, County Poet Laureate Sally Ashton asked the community to participate in a project to compile an online collection of well-loved poems. Since then, the Poet Laureate has held a number of readings at different locations throughout the county.
In partnership with Barnes & Noble, the upcoming reading will help raise funds for The Hub through book selling at the event. Participants can also purchase books to sign and donate to The Hub.
