Supervisor Mike Wasserman Elected President of the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors

Wasserman will Discuss his Priorities at the State of the County Address, January 28
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.—Today, the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors elected Supervisor Mike Wasserman as President of the Board for 2014.  Wasserman will discuss his priorities at the State of the County address, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 11:15 a.m., in the County Government Center Board Chambers. 
“I am honored to serve as Board President for 2014,” said President Mike Wasserman. “I look forward to working closely with my fellow Supervisors on delivering high quality, cost-effective public safety, health, emergency, and recreation services for our nearly 2 million residents.”  
 Last year, Wasserman served as Vice President of the Board.  He currently chairs the Public Safety and Justice Committee, and is vice chair of the Housing, Land Use, Environment and Transportation Committee.
Wasserman was elected to the Board of Supervisors in November 2010. He represents District One, which includes portions of San Jose (Almaden Valley, Santa Teresa, Blossom Valley), Gilroy, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, San Martin, as well as the Mt. Hamilton Range and the Santa Cruz Mountains. The population of the District is over 330,000 and it encompasses 70 percent of the County's land area. Prior to his election to the Board of Supervisors, Wasserman served eight years on the Los Gatos Town Council, including two terms as Mayor. 
Wasserman holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Financial Planner. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Kim, for more than 30 years and they have two adult children, Nicole and Sean.
