An Artists’ Competition April 15-28, 2017
Theme: “Valley of Hearts Delight”
Plein Air Art in the Park is an adjudicated outdoor painting competition open to all ages high school students and older. The Contest Period is April 15 - 28, 2017
Jury Selected paintings will be displayed GALLERY format at the County Building 70 W. Hedding
May 1-5, 2017 and online.

There is no fee to participate; however, artists will supply their own materials.
- Contest registration will allow you vehicle access to paint at Martial Cottle Park during the Contest Period
- Subject areas are the public portions of Martial Cottle Park
- Artists will have two hours to create and frame their work for judging, which will occur immediately following the contest.
- Allowed mediums are oil, acrylic, watercolor, chalk, pencil, pastels, or mixed media.
- Each canvas must be certified blank prior to painting.
- Certification begins at Martial Cottle Park on April 15, 9am-noon and continues at Parks Administration 298 Garden Hill Dr., Los Gatos April 17 – April 28. See rules for times.
- Painters may enter up to two original works in the Plein Air Competition.
Registered artists may also participate in one of the
Plein Air QUICK DRAW Competitions on April 20 or 23. To learn more, click

The awards ceremony will be held during the Martial Cottle Spring Celebration on May 6.
