CDPH Warns Consumers Not to Eat Certain Jarritos Foods Fruit Gelatin Products
SACRAMENTO – Dr. Ron Chapman, director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and state health officer, today warned consumers with soy allergies not to eat certain Jarritos Foods Fruit Gelatin products due to undeclared soy allergens.
Jarritios Foods of Redwood City, California is voluntarily recalling various 20 ounce and eight ounce size Jarritos Foods Fruit Gelatin products because the product labels failed to declare the food allergen (soy) in the ingredient statements. The recall was initiated after CDPH identified the labeling omission during a routine inspection. No illnesses have been reported at this time.
Jarritos Foods Fruit Gelatin, made with a yellow milk gelatin and cubes of flavored, colored gelatin, is packaged in 20 ounce clear plastic, square containers, and in eight ounce clear plastic cups with lids. No lot code or date code is used on the product. (To view product photos, click on Jarritos Foods Packaging and Labels).
