On July 31, 2014, the Sister Cities International, Inc. will convene its 58th Annual Conference in San Jose. Hundreds of elected and municipal officials, engaged citizens, foreign diplomats, and business leaders will gather for three days in our area to discuss “The Power of Digital Diplomacy.”
County students will join youth from around the world as they learn about important global challenges and the ways in which different national experiences drive international cooperation on critical issues. Participants will be conducting a simulation of the G20 Summit.
To engage the next generation of citizen diplomats, we are asking you to join the
County of Santa Clara Sister County Commissions in sponsoring high school students (ages 14-18 years) to participate in the 2014 Annual Youth Leadership Summit during the Sister Cities International conference. Tax-deductible contributions to the Commissions are due April 21, 2014.
There are several ways you can join us in this worthwhile educational endeavor:
1) Become a Platinum Sponsor by donating $5,000 to support the registration fee for 20 students; 2) Become a Gold Sponsor by donating $2,500 to support registration for 10 students; 3) Become a Silver Sponsor by donating $1,250 to support registration for five students; or) Become a Contributor by donating $250 to support the registration for one student.
We believe that this is an unprecedented opportunity for our students to have an early exposure to diplomacy in action. We hope that you are willing to help open doors for students who are interested in participating through the Youth Leadership Summit Sponsorship Project. Funds raised through the Youth Leadership Summit Sponsorship Project will cover the Summit registration costs.
You have the option of designating a specific high school or school district or you may allow the Sister County Commissions to determine in concert with the Santa Clara County Office of Education, or faculty at local high schools where your donation will make a real difference.
