Published on: 3/20/2019 12:47 PM

The Medi-Cal Access Program (MCAP) offers low-cost comprehensive health coverage to pregnant women with no copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance. MCAP usually costs less than Covered CA plans.

  • Must be pregnant when you apply
  • Family income between 213% and 322% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
  • Not eligible for Medi-Cal, Covered CA, or covered by private insurance (unless you have a separate maternity-only deductible or co-payment of more than $500).

MCAP covers a pregnant woman from her effective date of coverage until the last day of the month in which the 60th day following the end of her pregnancy occurs. It does not cover dental or vision services.

Beneficiaries are required to pay 1.5% of their yearly family income which can be paid as lump sum, or divided among 12 monthly payments.
