The Santa Clara County Vector Control District (District) is preparing a Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (DPEIR)
for its Integrated Vector Management Plan. The District has been compliant with CEQA requirements by filing and receiving an Exemption in 2007. In most cases, a PEIR would not be required because the District is not creating a new program. In this case, the PEIR is being completed in order to more comprehensively examine the environmental impacts of the District’s operations. The PEIR is an important and necessary step in providing up-to-date information to the public, and will provide a full and transparent analysis of the impact of the wide array of tools used by the District in reducing the threat of vector-borne diseases. It will allow opportunity for public participation, analysis and input for current vector control programs, and will serve as a guide in planning for future control strategies.
